ConnectUS Cafe
In 2034, robots have evolved to possess empathy and unique personalities, the line between human and machine is blurred.
ConnectUs Cafés offer a welcoming space where humans and robots can come together get to know each other on a deeper level while having drinks and playing a game. During the game the robot and human have to work together to make a marble track in three different rounds with increasing difficulty.
By the time they complete the game, both the robot and the human will have gained valuable insights into each other’s ways of thinking, reacting, and problem solving.

We made some initial prototypes with basic materials such as cardboard, to do the initial tests. Before creating the digital cads needed to start with the programing, laser cutting and 3D printing that where needed.
Using the tools of the workspace of the science center we started to put together each piece to assemble the different mechanisms needed to bring the robotic table to life. Including, engine and motor for the game movement, the opening of the center of the table and outside wood structure that help with aesthetics.

While testing with different people, we showed our project almost completely done, just missing the final touchups.
On this day we had the opportunity to explain the idea and the use of our prototype. It very useful to receive feedback and get some insights the table needed to make our project better.
Before the presentation at IDE we build up the whole café at the Science Center. In this stage we added a lot of details that give the room a Café feel. We added plants, posters, coffee beans and other details.

For the final presentation we added some details that helped wrap together our entire project, adding details to the game strategy, sand the table to improve its aesthetic and add borders that help the correct development of the board game, we also added other details such as light, logos and symbols that helped with the understanding of the project.
To finish the team worked together to create an entire background atmosphere that contextualized the project in the intended scene of a cozy café of the future for which the project was designed.
